Kaput is a Chicago-based Post Punk/Art Rock/No Wave project by producer and engineer Brian Fox (Electrical Audio), Nadia Garofalo (Heavy Feelings, formerly of Ganser), and featuring M. Sord (Jon Spencer and the Hitmakers) on drums. Following Garofalo’s departure from Ganser in late 2022, Fox approached her to co-write on some song ideas he had been working on. From there, the pair began writing new material together, prioritizing play and experimentation in their writing process.

Their lead single “High Wire” looks at a darker side of fandom and fame seeking, begging the question of how far entertainment can go and what does that say about the audience. “I was thinking about a Kim Gordon quote when writing lyrics to this song: ‘People pay money to see others believe in themselves.’ and then I thought about the tightrope walkers who walk without nets because it’s more entertaining that way.”

Their debut album arrives early 2025.
